For Researchers
Methodology first
Before anything else: this is real, transaction-level sales data, captured directly from running stores' point-of-sale systems as sales happen — not a survey, not a panel built from self-reported estimates, not a modelled projection. Any data point we could ever publish is only shown once at least ten stores in the same country are contributing to it, so no comparison or aggregate can be traced back to a single store. Full detail on how this works is on Methodology & Data Practices.
Why this might matter to your research
As far as we're aware, transaction-level retail data at this level of detail is rarely available to academic or institutional researchers. If your work touches retail behaviour, consumer purchasing patterns, or this specific sector, the value here is direct measurement instead of another proxy or self-reported dataset. How useful that is to your work depends on how rigorous the methodology behind it actually is — see Methodology & Data Practices to check for yourself.
Where things stand today
We're currently focused on building this with running stores in the UK, with plans to expand across the European market over time. The dataset is still growing toward the size needed for a meaningful research sample.
What to do next
If this could be relevant to your work, get in touch now so we know there's interest — and reach out again to request early access to test a sample once there's enough data behind it. We'll let you know when that point is reached.
